CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
Last Updated: October 25, 2026
This policy explains how withdrawal, cancellation and refund requests are handled for Mergen Chess programmes bought on the website. The Distance Sales Agreement and mandatory consumer law prevail.
1. General Information
- Programmes are bought once for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months; there is no subscription or automatic renewal.
- Payments are taken through iyzico, and approved refunds go back to the same payment method.
- The service starts after the level assessment and group placement that follow payment.
2. Right of Withdrawal and Its Exception
As a rule, the consumer has a 14-day right of withdrawal under the Distance Contracts Regulation. However, the services offered on the platform are digital content and services performed instantly in electronic form within the scope of Article 48/7 of Law No. 6502 and Article 15/1(ğ) and (h) of the Distance Contracts Regulation.
By ticking the relevant box on the payment page and completing payment, the consumer expressly consents to performance beginning before the withdrawal period ends. The right of withdrawal therefore cannot be exercised once performance has begun after payment (scheduling the level assessment, placement in a lesson group or student-portal access).
If the service cannot be provided at all (for example, the level assessment or group placement cannot take place, or lessons cannot start, for reasons on Mergen Chess’s side), the consumer may request a full refund. Details are set out in the Refund Policy.
3. When a Refund Is Always Given
Regardless of the withdrawal exception, the unused part of the service is refunded when:
- Payment was taken but the service could not start (the level assessment or group placement could not take place for reasons on Mergen Chess’s side)
- A technical problem on Mergen Chess’s side prevented lessons and was not resolved within a reasonable time
- The payment was incorrect or taken twice
- Mergen Chess can no longer provide the programme
4. Other Cancellation Requests
Other requests to cancel, change programme or pause enrolment are assessed against the programme terms, the part of the service already delivered and mandatory consumer law, and the outcome is confirmed to the parent in writing.
5. How to Request a Refund
Email info@mergensatranc.com, ideally from the address used at checkout, with:
- The order number (in your payment confirmation email)
- The parent’s and student’s full names
- The payment date and amount
- The reason for the request
Approved refunds are made to the card used within 14 days of the request at the latest. How long the bank or card issuer takes to show the amount is outside Mergen Chess’s control.
6. After a Refund
Once the refund is complete, lesson participation and student-portal access end. Personal data is kept for the periods stated in the Privacy Notice.
